Is hunting permitted on public land?

Yes, you can go hunting in compliance with standard licencing requirements, regulations, legislation and policies Some wetlands may be closed to hunting or have additional restrictions, please check the GMA website before leaving home. 

You must ensure that 1.5 metres distance can be maintained between yourself and others. Hunting is permitted within the open season for Stubble Quail, deer (except Hog Deer), and hunting Sambar Deer with hounds. The Hog deer and duck season is now closed

Guidelines to remember

  • Camping, including remote and bush camping, is allowed. Visitors will be able to use communal areas like shared bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Please make yourself familiar with the current restrictions and check for any specific information from the land manager before you leave home.
  • Be responsible and mindful of others.
  • All licencing requirements, regulations, legislation and policies apply as usual.
  • If you choose to take advantage of any changes to public health directions, please do so responsibly.
  • Take responsibility for your own hygiene, bring your own hand sanitiser, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing and be mindful of others.
  • Remember – 1.5 metres of physical distancing at all times.
